Product Summary
The Traditions Ceiling board dimensions are 5” x 3/8”x 16’. What makes the Traditions Ceiling Board unique is the fact that it is the only synthetic that can be installed with the ceiling joist 24” OC.
Further, the ceiling board can be painted any color due to the nature of our proprietary paint grade formulation. (See paint instructions and paint rebate at Aeratis.com). The Traditions ceiling board not only saves time and money during the installation process, it dramatically reduces the overall construction cost due to the significant advantage of the 24” OC span rating over every other synthetic on the market.
Construction and Materials
Aeratis offers a distinctive and high-quality beam ceiling system designed to bring warmth, character, and a touch of rustic charm to any space. These beam ceilings are meticulously crafted to replicate the look and feel of antique hand-hewn timbers, providing an authentic architectural element without the cost and complexity of real antique beams.
The construction of Aeratis beam ceilings is based on a hollow, multi-sided profile. This design is engineered for both aesthetic appeal and practical installation. Each beam is constructed from a lightweight, durable material that allows for easy handling and mounting. The hollow core simplifies the installation process significantly, making it an accessible option for both professional contractors and ambitious DIYers.
The primary material used in the construction of Aeratis beam ceilings is a high-density polyurethane foam. This material is chosen for its ability to be molded and finished to precisely mimic the textures and imperfections found in antique wood. The polyurethane allows for intricate detailing, such as the grain patterns, knots, and chisel marks characteristic of hand-hewn beams. This process ensures that each beam possesses unique visual qualities, enhancing the overall authenticity of the ceiling design.
The finishing of the beams is a crucial aspect of their construction, contributing to their realistic appearance. Aeratis employs a multi-step finishing process that involves:
- Molding: The initial casting of the polyurethane into the desired beam shape, incorporating the hand-hewn texture.
- Hand-Painting and Staining: Each beam is individually hand-painted and stained by skilled artisans. This process replicates the natural aging and color variations found in genuine antique wood. Multiple layers of stain and paint are applied to achieve depth, character, and a natural patina.
- Sealing: A protective sealant is applied to enhance durability and maintain the finish over time.
The result is a product that is virtually indistinguishable from real antique wooden beams in terms of visual appearance and texture. Despite their realistic look, Aeratis beams are significantly lighter than solid wood, which reduces the structural load on the ceiling and simplifies the installation process. This lightweight construction also means that specialized structural support is typically not required, further streamlining the installation.
Aeratis beam ceilings are available in a variety of styles and finishes to complement different interior design aesthetics. These options allow customers to select beams that best match their desired look, whether it be a rustic farmhouse, a cozy lodge, or a sophisticated craftsman-style interior.

Options-Styles
Aeratis offers a sophisticated selection of style options for their Beam Ceiling products, designed to enhance any architectural aesthetic. These beams are crafted to mimic the appearance of real wood, providing the warmth and character of traditional timber with the durability and ease of maintenance of modern materials. The style options primarily revolve around the finish and color applied to the beams, allowing for seamless integration into diverse interior designs.
Each beam is meticulously finished to replicate the natural variations found in wood. This includes subtle textures that mimic grain patterns and the characteristic imperfections that give real wood its authentic charm. The color palette is carefully curated to offer a range of popular wood tones, from light, airy finishes that evoke Scandinavian or minimalist styles, to rich, deep hues that lend themselves to more traditional, rustic, or luxurious settings.
Available Style Options:
- Classic Oak: This finish offers a timeless appeal, reminiscent of aged oak. It features a balance of light and medium brown tones with visible grain patterns, providing a warm and inviting feel.
- Dark Walnut: For a more dramatic and sophisticated look, the Dark Walnut finish presents deep, rich brown tones. This option adds a sense of gravitas and elegance, ideal for creating a focal point in a room.
- Weathered Gray: This style emulates the look of wood that has been exposed to the elements, offering a contemporary and slightly distressed aesthetic. The gray tones can be blended with subtle hints of brown or black for added depth.
- Barnwood Red: Inspired by reclaimed barn wood, this finish incorporates reddish-brown hues and authentic-looking distressing marks. It brings a rustic and historical character to spaces.
- White Washed: A lighter, airier option, the White Washed finish provides a soft, subtle look. It lightly coats the beam, allowing some of the underlying texture and natural wood tones to show through, creating a coastal or farmhouse feel.
- Custom Stains: Aeratis may also offer the possibility of custom stain applications, allowing designers and homeowners to achieve a specific color or shade that perfectly matches their project's unique color scheme and desired ambiance. This flexibility ensures that the beams can be tailored to nearly any design requirement.
The styling of Aeratis Beam Ceilings extends beyond just color. The inherent texture and the way light interacts with the surface of each beam contribute significantly to their visual appeal. The goal is to provide a realistic simulation of natural wood, ensuring that the beams are not only structurally sound but also aesthetically pleasing and a distinctive element of the overall interior design.

Product Summary
Construction and materials
Armstrong Ceilings offers a diverse range of ceiling solutions designed to enhance both the aesthetics and acoustic performance of residential spaces. Their product lines encompass various categories, including Acoustic Tile, Suspension Systems, Ceiling Tiles, Integrated Systems, and 3-D Ceiling System Panels, catering to a wide spectrum of design preferences and functional requirements.
Ceiling Tiles: Armstrong's ceiling tiles are a cornerstone of their residential offerings. These tiles are available in a multitude of materials, textures, and patterns to suit different interior styles. Common materials include mineral fiber, fiberglass, and wood composites, each contributing unique acoustic and visual properties. Mineral fiber tiles often provide excellent sound absorption and are a popular choice for reducing noise in living areas. Fiberglass tiles are known for their lightweight nature and durability, while wood composite tiles offer a warmer, more natural aesthetic. The design options are extensive, ranging from smooth, contemporary finishes to textured, traditional patterns, and even decorative embossed styles.
Acoustic Tile Systems: Beyond standard ceiling tiles, Armstrong specializes in advanced acoustic tile systems. These systems are engineered to provide superior sound control, minimizing echoes and reverberation within a room. The construction of these tiles often involves specialized core materials and facing finishes that are optimized for sound absorption. The installation typically utilizes standard suspension grid systems, allowing for easy integration into existing or new construction. The primary goal of these systems is to create more comfortable and functional living environments by managing sound.
Suspension Systems: To support their diverse range of ceiling tiles and panels, Armstrong provides robust suspension systems. These systems are typically made from high-quality steel, coated for corrosion resistance and durability. The components include main tees, cross tees, wall angle, and suspension accessories, all designed to create a stable and level grid framework. The systems are engineered for straightforward installation, allowing for efficient ceiling tile placement and access for maintenance or utility work above the ceiling. Different grid profiles and finishes are available to complement various ceiling tile aesthetics, from standard exposed grid systems to more concealed or tegular edge options.
Integrated Systems: Armstrong's integrated ceiling systems represent a cohesive approach to ceiling design, combining lighting, ventilation, and acoustic elements into a single, unified solution. These systems often involve custom-fabricated panels or pre-engineered modules that seamlessly incorporate these functional components. The materials used are chosen for their compatibility and performance within the integrated design. For example, lighting fixtures are designed to fit precisely within the ceiling grid, and acoustic baffling may be integrated to optimize sound performance without compromising visual appeal.
3-D Ceiling System Panels: For architects and designers seeking a distinctive visual statement, Armstrong offers 3-D Ceiling System Panels. These panels are designed to create depth, dimension, and sculptural effects on the ceiling plane. They are typically manufactured from materials like molded fiberglass or thermoformed thermoplastics, allowing for complex shapes and intricate designs. The construction involves creating molds or forms to achieve the desired three-dimensional profiles. These panels can be used to create dramatic focal points or to introduce subtle textural variations, transforming the ceiling from a passive surface into an active design element.

- Pattern: Intricate geometric patterns, subtle perforations, or bold abstract designs are available, offering homeowners the ability to make a distinct design statement. These patterns can define a space or complement existing decor.
- Color: While white and off-white are traditional choices for their light-reflecting and expansive qualities, Armstrong Ceilings also offers tiles in various shades and finishes to match different design palettes.
- Edge Detail: The way ceiling tiles meet and interact with the suspension grid (if applicable) or the wall can significantly impact the final look. Options include square edge, tegular, or reveal edges, each contributing a different visual profile.

Construction and materials
Ekena Millwork offers a diverse range of ceiling solutions designed to enhance interior spaces. Their product line includes beam ceilings, domes, ceiling tiles, and coffered ceilings, each crafted to provide aesthetic appeal and architectural interest.
The construction and materials used in Ekena Millwork's ceiling products are focused on durability, ease of installation, and visual quality. While specific material compositions can vary across product lines, common materials often include:
- Polyurethane: This versatile material is frequently used due to its ability to mimic the look of wood, plaster, or other natural materials with exceptional detail and consistency. Polyurethane is lightweight, resistant to moisture and pests, and can be finished to achieve a wide range of looks, from distressed wood to intricate plasterwork.

- Wood Composites: Some products may incorporate wood composites, which offer the aesthetic of real wood while being more dimensionally stable and resistant to warping.
- Lightweight Polymers: For certain tile and decorative elements, lightweight polymers are utilized to simplify installation and reduce the structural load on ceilings.
The construction methods employed by Ekena Millwork prioritize both realistic appearance and practical application. Many of their decorative elements, such as beams and moldings, are cast from molds of real wood or intricate architectural designs. This process allows for:
- Deep Relief and Detail: Ensuring that textures and patterns are sharply defined and lifelike.
- Consistency: Guaranteeing that each piece produced from a mold is identical, simplifying project planning and execution.
- Lightweight Construction: Making products easier to handle and install, often without the need for specialized heavy equipment.
Ekena Millwork's ceiling tiles and coffered ceiling systems are designed for straightforward installation, often featuring interlocking mechanisms or simple attachment systems that can be secured with adhesive or mechanical fasteners. Beam ceiling kits typically include pre-fabricated components that assemble to create the appearance of solid wood beams, often incorporating hollow cores for lighter weight and easier mounting.
Domes are constructed to provide a grand architectural statement, with various options available to suit different design aesthetics and ceiling heights. These can range from simple, smooth domes to those featuring intricate molding details.
The finishes applied to Ekena Millwork's products are carefully selected to enhance their realism and durability. These can include:
- Primed Surfaces: Many products come ready for custom painting, allowing homeowners and contractors to match existing decor.
- Pre-Finished Options: Some collections offer pre-finished looks, such as faux wood grains or aged patinas, providing a convenient and consistent aesthetic.

Options-Styles
Great American Spaces offers a distinguished collection of wood ceiling products, designed to bring natural beauty and architectural elegance to any space. Their offerings focus on providing high-quality wood ceiling solutions that cater to both aesthetic preferences and functional needs.
The style options primarily revolve around the inherent characteristics of wood and the manufacturing techniques employed to enhance these qualities. Key stylistic elements include:
- Wood Species: Great American Spaces utilizes a variety of wood species, each offering a unique grain pattern, color, and texture. This allows for a broad spectrum of looks, from the warm, rich tones of walnut to the lighter, more contemporary feel of maple or ash. The natural variations in each wood species contribute to the distinctive character of every ceiling installation.
- Finish Options: The finishes applied to the wood play a crucial role in defining the overall style. Options typically include natural finishes that highlight the wood's inherent beauty, as well as stained finishes that can achieve a range of colors from light and airy to deep and dramatic. Protective clear coats are also applied to ensure durability and longevity, while also influencing the sheen from matte to semi-gloss.
- Profile and Edge Details: The way the wood planks or panels are milled and joined contributes significantly to the visual style. The edge details of the planks, such as beveled or square edges, also influence the perceived depth and character of the ceiling.
- Grain Direction and Layout: While not a direct product option, the way the wood is laid out and the direction of its grain can be considered a stylistic choice during installation. A uniform grain direction can create a sense of order and linearity, while a more varied approach can add visual interest and a sense of organic flow.

Options-Styles
National Gypsum Company offers a diverse range of gypsum ceiling panels, designed to meet various aesthetic and functional requirements. These panels are a versatile solution for creating finished ceilings in residential, commercial, and institutional spaces.
The style options primarily revolve around the surface finish and edge detail of the panels, allowing for different visual outcomes and installation methods. While specific product lines may have unique characteristics, the general stylistic approaches available include:
- Smooth Finish Panels: These panels provide a clean, flat, and uniform surface. They are ideal for achieving a modern and minimalist look, and they serve as an excellent base for painting or other decorative finishes. The smooth surface minimizes visual distractions and creates a cohesive ceiling plane.

Some panels are also designed with features like integrated channels or specific surface textures to enhance their functionality and appearance. The slat wall panels, for example, incorporate a system of horizontal slots that allow for the attachment of various accessories, turning a wall surface into a versatile storage and organization solution.
The manufacturing process focuses on creating a product that is not only functional but also contributes to a clean and bright aesthetic. The smooth, finished surface of Trusscore panels can be easily wiped down, making them a practical choice for spaces that require regular cleaning and sanitation.
